Cindy Arnzen

Bozeman, MT – Cindy Arnzen, Business Education teacher and Business Professionals of America (BPA) advisor was presented the Western Business Education Association’s highest honor tonight at their annual Awards Banquet. Arnzen, who has taught in Idaho for 18 years (half of those years with Nampa School District), received the Outstanding Secondary Business Educator of the Year award. The award aims to acknowledge the contributions to both the teacher profession and the advancement of Business Education.

Arnzen leads the Business Department at Skyview High School and teaches Accounting I, Accounting II, Computerized Accounting, Business Computer Applications, and Fundamentals of Business. Arnzen serves as the District Lead Advisor to BPA Advisors from all three of Nampa’s High Schools.  In addition to her local roles, Arnzen currently serves as the Vice Chair for the Idaho BPA Board of Directors, Region 4 BPA Coordinator, and is on the Host Committee for the 2018 WBEA conference (to be held in Boise, Idaho).  Previously, she served as the President of the Idaho Business Education Association, on WBEA’s Board of Directors, and multiple task-forces and committees to develop state and local Business Education Standards.

One of her nominators shares: “Here at the State CTE office, Cindy’s name is one of the first to be mentioned when we need advice or a second opinion from a business education perspective. Cindy understands and exemplifies that we are stronger together and that we need each other in business education to make a difference in our students’ lives statewide.”

A former student of Arnzen said: “She genuinely cares for her students as if they were her own.  She wants her students to get the most out of their education by preparing them for the real world ahead and ensures that her students truly understand the material before moving on, even if that means presenting the materials in different ways.  She lets students know they can depend on her by going out of her way-too-busy schedule for anyone who is willing to put in the effort.  She is resourceful and can provide various opportunities for interested students.  Ms. Arnzen is exceptionally skilled at her career in which I know she takes great pride.”
