The Family and Consumer Science Program area houses the following Pathways:
The Culinary Arts Pathway is aligned and offers postsecondary credits with the College of Southern Idaho’s Culinary Arts Program.  This pathway, based at Skyview High School, offers instruction in food safety, health nutrition, and meal management.  Students will study the composition, structure and properties of foods and prepare for gainful employment or entry into food production at the postsecondary level.  Classroom instruction provides students the opportunity to apply the marketable culinary arts and food service skills, refining techniques and procedures in cooking, baking, menu preparation and food budget.

The Early Childhood Development Pathway, located at Nampa High School, prepares students for employment in the field of early childhood care and education.  Students participate in problem-based instruction in child development, curriculum building and children’s health and safety. Students will participate as interns in elementary or childcare facilities.

The Education Assistant Pathway, located at Columbia High School explores the characteristics of successful education professionals. Emphasis on teaching strategies, assessment and classroom management in the elementary school environment will be a priority. Students will have the opportunity to participate as interns in Nampa School District schools working side-by-side with education professionals.
