The Welding Technology Pathway is based on the American Welding Society’s (AWS) industry standards and is aligned with the Welding Technology program atCollege of Western Idaho.

Students are introduced to avariety of welding techniques while studying in the Nampa School District’s Welding Technology program. Basic arc welding, cutting and brazing, oxyacetylene welding and shop safety are surveyed in the Fundamentals of Welding course.

Students moving through the pathway will have the opportunity to develop their skills in oxyacetylene welding, manual insert gas (MIG) and tungsten insert gas (TIG) welding, plasmaarc cutting flux core and dual shield welding and automatic wire feed.

Students will develop their ability to read and draw mechanical blueprints, work with heat-treated materials and prepare their skills for success in the application of AWS standards.
